Kira's Missing, part 2

"It's been over 4 hours since anyone has seen Kira!" I yelled at Robi.

"I'm sorry, Honey, I should have asked her specifically where she was going." Robi tried to console me by giving me a hug.

"We need to call the police! No one has seen her for so long and I'm worried."

"I know, Honey, I agree. Let's call the police."

But before we could pick up the phone, it rang. I looked at Robi, worry etched on my face.

"Maybe it's Kira!" My hand shook as I picked up the phone to answer. "Hello?"

"Hello, Lorelai. It's me again."

"Who are you? Where is my daughter?" I yelled into the phone. Robi saw the look on my face and picked up the extension phone so he could hear as well.

"Oh, you'll find out eventually. She's fine, don't worry about her. We just need to set some rules first."

"Rules? What do you want, money? We'll give you money, just tell me where my daughter is!"

"Patience, Lorelai, patience." The voice on the other line chuckled. "First rule - no cops. I had enough of cops running my life. Your family will pay for what they did to me, oh yes."

"What do you mean? What have we ever done to you?"

"Why don't you ask Eileen?" The voice laughed again, a creepy sound that made chills sliver down my back.

"Eileen?" I asked, but I was speaking into a silent phone - the person had hung up.

Robi hung up the extension and hugged me. "We need to call the police," he said to me.

"He said no cops, Robi. What if he hurts her?" I began to cry.

"Shh." Robi held me tighter. "He won't hurt her. If he wants money, he'll get it. What did he mean by ask Eileen?"

"One of my relatives was named Eileen. Her portrait is in the hallway upstairs. She was pregnant when it was painted, I believe. She's buried in the family cemetery. I think we have some family history books in the attic."

"Why don't you rest for a little while, Lor, and let me look?" Robi asked.

"No, I need to do this." I brushed past him and made my way upstairs. I had to find my daughter and a relative named Eileen was my only clue.
